Privacy Policy

Èsì (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Name, email address, username, profile photo, and security credentials (passwords, OTPs).
  • User Content: Venue reviews, ratings, photos, comments, and feedback submitted within the app.
  • Communications: Information provided when you contact customer support or respond to surveys.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: With your explicit permission, we collect precise or approximate GPS location data from your mobile device to enable venue discovery, nearby spot recommendations, and location-verified reviews.
  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, and mobile network details.
  • Usage Data: Log data regarding how you interact with the app, including features used, venues viewed, search queries, and crash reports.
  • Web Cookies: When you use our website, we use essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

C. Information from Third-Party Sign-In (Google)

If you choose to sign in using “Sign in with Google,” we receive limited profile information from your Google Account, including your name, email address, and profile photo, as authorized by you during the Google sign-in process. We use this information solely to create and authenticate your Èsì account and to populate your public profile within the app.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and improve the Service: authenticate accounts, process user actions, display nearby venues, and optimize user experience.
  • Transactional Emails: send onboarding emails, password reset links, verification codes, and security alerts via our backend infrastructure using Supabase and SendGrid.
  • Community Features: display user reviews, profile avatars, and badges to other users within the community.
  • Analytics & Performance: monitor system performance, fix technical crashes, and evaluate feature engagement.
  • Safety & Security: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and violations of our Terms.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information under the following circumstances:

  • With Other Users: Public profile information, uploaded photos, ratings, and reviews are visible to other Èsì users.
  • Service Providers: We share data with third-party infrastructure providers who assist in operating our platform, including Supabase for user authentication and database hosting, and SendGrid for delivering transactional emails and password resets.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental request.

4. Data Retention & Account Deletion

Retention: We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with the Service.

Account Deletion: You can request account deletion at any time through the in-app settings. Upon deletion, your personal information, profile data, and authentication credentials will be permanently erased or anonymized from our primary databases within 30 days.

5. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures (including HTTPS encryption, secure database rules, and API token authentication) to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

6. Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, update, or correct your personal information.
  • Withdraw location permissions at any time via your mobile device settings.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.

7. Children’s Privacy

Èsì is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
